Breathe In and Know – Art Quilt

I was inspired to create this quilt by several original photos featuring subtle greys and blues. I transferred these photos to fabric; two images of tree branches against the sky and a photo of water reflections in a pond appear In the work. I created hand-printed and painted fabrics to suggest the layers and intricacies found in nature. I find this work both complex and peaceful.

Acrylics on fabric. Monotype printing by hand and direct painting with archival acrylic paints. Collage construction and machine stitching and quilting. Finishing: bound and fabric-backed. The back has a hanging pocket and a rod, for traditional hanging tapestry presentation. All collaging is with archival matte acrylic medium, (which is invisible) also used over the surface for protection.
