Against a background of words describing proper behavior for young ladies, these girls from the 1950’s will be framed and formed by many expectations. Here the family expectations for them were simple: be good. Dress up and pose for the camera. Beyond that, their expectations for life were circumscribed and small.
Hand-printed monotype images on rice paper and fabric • digital transfers of family photograph and book text• painted fabric • acrylic paints • muslin, polyester felt • machine stitching • collage construction with acrylic medium.
This collage-constructed art quilt is mounted on a wood panel with a back frame recessed from the edge. It has a clean, wrapped edge and displays 2" from the wall.
This work exhibited in a solo show of Bobbi’s quilts at the Museum of Art DeLand , Florida June - August 2026 – BOBBI BAUGH: Symbols and Storytelling.
