Once She Could

$1,800.00

31"H x 37"W   The girl at work at the blackboard is immersed in an imaginary setting, filled with complex shapes and natural forms. The title can be read to have different meanings. “Once She Could” may imply that now she can’t. The ability demonstrated as a young girl has been lost somewhere in this environment. Or, “Once She Could” may imply infinite possibilities: “Once she could write anything was possible.” The actual journeys of actual girls, as well as our own memories, contain both meanings ad at least as many complexities.

The work is created with archival acrylic paints and mediums on fabric. The images are created through a combination of monotype printing and direct painting on fabric, as well as digital transfers of original photos. The surface is sealed with a coating of acrylic medium.

Finishing: bound and backed with hand-painted fabric. The back has a hanging pocket and a rod, for traditional hanging tapestry presentation.

PRICE INCLUDES FREE SHIPPING AND SALES TAX. (Shipments via regular ground service, continental US)
