ENTERING UNTOLD STORIES – ART QUILT

This quilt was inspired by the photo of the hidden garden seen through the iron gate. I loved the sense of warmth created by the sun on the brick pavers. That became the starting place for this journey. I printed and painted fabrics to complement that photo, adding water images as well. Water also implies both serenity and life unknown within. It is my hope the viewer will enter this story and insert more meaning from personal experience.

Hand printed (monotypes, relief prints, resists and screen printing) with acrylic paint on cotton muslin and sheer fabrics, collaged and stitch construction, with machine stitched details. Transfer of photograph to muslin. Finishing: bound fabric-backed. The back has a hanging pocket and a rod, for traditional hanging tapestry presentation without frame. All collaging is with archival matte acrylic medium, which is also used over the surface.
